Biography

Thomas Farley's clinical role is a nurse practitioner on the adult critical care medicine service, where he manages critically ill adults admitted to the UCSF adult intensive care units. He is the supervisor of a 18 provider nurse practitioner practice that staffs the Parnassus and Mission Bay campuses. He has a special interest in the use of non invasive technologies to diagnose severe illness and in palliative care delivered in the ICU.

Thomas strives to promote advanced practice nursing in academic medical centers. He is a clinical instructor of nursing at the UCSF School of Nursing where he precepts AG-ACNP students. In addition he is clincial faculty at the  University of Arizona College of Nursing where he supervises AG-ACNP students in a DNP program.  He is the co director of the Surgical and Critical Care Nurse Practitioner Fellowship Program at UCSF.

Thomas earned a bachelor's degree in Finance from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. He subsequently earned his Master's in Nursing from UCSF. He is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. He is a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the California Nurses Association.
